What does GSM feel like?

We can only speak with certainty for what we’ve measured ourselves, and we don’t publish a number we haven’t lab-verified. Here is what our own ladder feels like, end to end:

340 GSM (The Soft Layer, The Easy Trouser) — the heaviest cloth we make. Cotton terry with real substance; it settles on the shoulders and stays. This is the range general fabric guides call “heavyweight” or above.

282 GSM (The Quiet Sweatshirt) — true heavyweight jersey, dense enough to feel substantial, soft enough to forget you’re wearing it once it’s on.

270 GSM (The Everyday Tee, The Weekend Trouser) — roughly double a standard retail T-shirt’s weight (most sit closer to 150 GSM). Drapes instead of clinging; stone-washed on the Tee so it arrives already soft.

136 GSM (The Long Quiet) — our lightest weave, and an unusual one: jute and cotton together, textured like linen rather than knit-soft. Light enough that air moves through it; the weight of the weave, not thinness, is what keeps it from feeling flimsy.

For weights outside our own range — a 180 GSM or 200 GSM cotton, for instance — the general rule holds: under roughly 150 is light shirting-weight, 150–250 is standard T-shirt to mid-layer weight, and above 280 moves into true heavyweight. We don’t carry a piece at every point on that scale, only the four weights above — each one chosen and lab-verified on purpose, not because it filled a gap in a size chart.
